Doug Heyl has spent over thirty years creating strategic messaging for public affairs and political campaigns at the local, state, and federal level. Mr. Heyl has given strategic advice and produced award winning advertising for candidates, corporations, attorney groups, universities, nonprofits, and unions across the country.

Prior to joining State Federal Strategies Mr. Heyl served as Deputy Secretary for Public Affairs for the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality. In a fifteen year period as a partner in three different media firms, Mr. Heyl provided strategy and produced media in twenty-two states.

Mr. Heyl has managed five statewide campaigns and served on two Presidential campaigns, including the 1992 Clinton/Gore campaign, where he was Southern Political Director. Mr. Heyl also held political roles at the DCCC and DSCC.

Mr. Heyl and his wife Jennifer Grigas live in suburban Raleigh, NC with their two daughters and dog Max.
